Bellbrook Cub Scout Pack 3

Our Pack
Pack 3 big, very active and the kids are all having a blast (while not realizing they are learning stuff!) The Scouting principle that we really take to heart in our pack is "Fun with a Purpose." Pack 3 is the largest and oldest pack in Tecumseh council. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2008 and have been averaging 80 cubs a year.

Joining Cub Scouts

To Join Cub Scouts, the BSA registration fee is approximately $15 for the year and the Pack Dues are $95/year. It is another $15 if you decide to order the "Boy's Life" magazine (which is really good!). The uniform and book only run about $50 by the time you bought everything (and cheaper if you buy most of it on E-bay...) The uniform is the same for all the years of Cub Scouts and the only thing they need to get each year is the requirement book for that rank.  Dues are $95 annually (Due at 1st pack meeting in August), includes Pack 3 program and all pack meetings. Option to pay $50 then  and sell $150 or more in popcorn. Make check to “Cub Scouts Pack 3”. What's Not included: Uniform, Overnight camp outs, Den Meeting snacks, special event outings,  Den crafts and Den Field trips are extra. Pack Dues are prorated at $9 per month starting in November.  e.g. if joining in August, 4 months remain in the calendar year so BSA fee is $5(remainder of this year) + $15(BSA next year) + dues  of $50(and cub expected to sell $150 in popcorn sales) + $23(cub shirt Y medium)  = total $93 if the cub does not reach their popcorn sales goal then the remaining dues of $45 will be due based on 30% popcorn profit. So if the cub sold $50 worth of popcorn,  then he would be $100 short of goal and owe 30% of $100 or $30, Due at the end of Popcorn selling period. Popcorn Sales above goal, Cubs will receive pack bucks (8% of their sales) to be used for their scout activities.

Meetings

The schedule lists the pack events (about 80 boys). The cubs also meet in their dens (about 10 boys) once or twice a month. The pack meetings are usually held on the 4th Tuesday of every month, 6:30pm and are usually held at Bellcreek Intermediate Gym. The den meetings dates vary based on which den you are in.

Age to join Cub Scouts
Any boy who has completed kindergarten can join. Most join at the beginning or end of summer, but they can join at any time of the year. Each year in Cub Scouts is a different level. They start at Tigers, then Wolves, Bears then Webelos. By spring of their 5th grade year, they can then transfer into Boy Scouts.

Cub Scouts is not a drop-off program
This is no longer the cub scouts of years-gone-by where you dropped off a bunch of kids to a den mother who was stuck with 8 rowdy kids for an hour. Tiger Cubs are like a pre-cub scouts and the child will be required to have a parent with him at any meeting. Most meetings, particularly the pack meetings, are open to the whole family.
